Blocks to Inner Healing: Unforgiveness
"Forgiveness is setting a prisoner free, to realize that prisoner was you."
Holding onto unforgiveness, being unwilling to forgive, does not "stick it" to the person who's hurt you. It keeps you in bondage, unable to receive and live from the place of freedom that Jesus intends for you.
Peter Louis says: “Unforgiveness creates a prison around your own heart. Your pain is real, but do not exalt it above the Lord. Do not exalt your betrayal over the injustice of the cross.”
The process of forgiveness looks like 1) acknowledging the hurt, 2) releasing the debt, 3) canceling the debt, 4) releasing the person back into the hands of Jesus, the Just Judge, and 5) giving up your right to be paid back.
Listen this morning with a goal of forgiving quickly, that you may be forgiven quickly by your Father in Heaven.
