Matthew: Chapters 10-12

Mar 10, 2024    Pastor Samantha Browning

This week Pastor Samantha shares on Jesus' second sermon in the Gospel of Matthew. If you remember from previous weeks, Matthew sets up his gospel to show Jesus' 5 teachings as parallel to the Five Books of Moses (the Torah), the first five books of the Bible.

This demonstrates Jesus' authority as the Highest Teacher and for His second sermon, He's focusing on the Mission of the Kingdom and some warnings for what comes with the call!

As we read, we see that Jesus is commanding the disciples to go and preach the gospel, which is "The Kingdom of God has come near" and to demonstrate that gospel by freely giving what they have received: healing the sick, raising the dead, casting out demons, cleansing the lepers.

As Jesus shares deep truths, He confronts the temptations to fear man above God and calls us all to fear God above all else. As you read through these passages, be encouraged that Jesus is calling you to do the same and promising that the Father is with you and for you as you continue to seek Him and His will first.

As always, take your time and stop to pause when Holy Spirit highlights something to you. Revelation and instruction from God is better than any other teaching!
